In Marmorian

In Mamoriam the surface is the determining quality. It is only suggested and points to the reference which is attributed to marble - without being it. The suggestion becomes the actual level. The feeling that the materiality creates is the focus. The photographs capture the sculptural potential of the situation and consolidate it, so that the model appears estranged from her liveliness and becomes a sculpture. Her own liveliness stands in contrast to this - but is supported by the actual quality of the oilcloth.
